DescriptionBrunner Mine Historic Site MRD 11.jpg
English: The coal mine at Brunner on the Grey River, West Coast, was New Zealand's largest. It was the site of New Zealand's largest mine disaster, when 65 men were killed in a mine explosion in 1896. Today it is the site of a restored heritage area, and has memorials to the victims of the explosion and to the Pike River disaster.
