English: Middle Washfold. This is the sheepfold which gives its name to the area of limestone containing the entrances to a system of caves and potholes leading to 255317
It was used to hold sheep before washing in the stream which runs through the cleft at the front. It is likely that the outlet was dammed to deepen the water (and prevent the loss of sheep down the plughole).
