English: Oil Depot in Chafford Gorge. To the left of the picture is South Stifford Oil Depot it is sited in a disused chalk pit. Extraction of Chalk lasted from medieval times until the 1970s.To the left is the Chafford Hundred housing development. The trees behind the Depot are in Grays Chalk Pit an SSSI. It was renamed Grays Gorge on 9th June 2005 as part of Essex Wildlife Trusts Chafford Gorges project.
