English: Path Through The Treacle Mine. This path is in Grays Chalk Pit, an SSSI and nature reserve http://www.essexwt.org.uk/sites/Chafford%20Gorges.htm . Local legend has it that before WW2 a boy and his father were walking past the quarry when the child pointed to the pit and said "what's that Dad?" the father replied a "treacle mine son" the name stuck in the mind of the boy who as an old man won a competition to name a new pub 39632
