Summary

Description
English: The former Region 6 War Room, on the Whiteknights Park campus of the University of Reading, England. This is the above ground portion of the war room, which would have housed the regional government for South Central England (Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Dorset, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, and the Isle of Wight) in the event of a nuclear strike on Britain during the 1950s and possibly later. It was rendered obsolete by the development of the H-bomb, and replaced by a new Regional Seat of Government (RSG-6) at Warren Row near Maidenhead. After ceasing to be used for civil defence purposes, the war room was taken over by the University and modified as a secure storage facility for use by the University Library. For more information see the Wikipedia article Region 6 War Room.
