Summary
DescriptionSlate tips (geograph 5292908).jpg
English: Extensive slate tips, erroneously marked "Quarry (dis)" on the OS map extend towards Rhosgadfan below the tramway. This is paradoxical because there is no obvious source in a nearby quarry, but the waste originated at the Alexandra Quarry which had an adit leading through the hillside of Moel Tryfan and thus avoided hauling the waste up from the quarry bottom to tips on the mountain. The remains of the adit are visible but it has long since collapsed at this end.
