Summary

Description
English: South Wheal Francis The mining buildings left standing here are huge compared to the remains normally seen in Cornwall. Most of these very impressive ruins were built in the later stages of mining in the area at the end of the 19th century and start of the 20th when South Wheal Francis had amalgamated with Basset Mines and this site became the focus of ore lifting and sorting operations. The ore was then taken east by railway to be processed at Basset stamps.
